Help with using our internet radio streams

It's possible that ether the device your using doesn't support the Vorbis audio codec or there's a connection problem. Audio streaming with Icecast (the service we use for our internet streams) doesn't need a lot of internet bandwidth or low latency, however low packet loss is required, making some wireless connections not usable. There are plenty of websites that let you test packet loss. Packet loss should be as low as possible but anything over 5% can start causing problems and over 10% will be hard to listen to. If you're using a wireless connection of some kind repositioning your device or it's antennas can improve this in the case of WiFI, or moving to a different room or floor if using cellular. Alternatively using a lower streaming bit rate may help too. If you're using our web player it will automatically select the best stream for you're connection. If you're using a media player you will need to look at our stream links and try a different stream.

Setting up a media player with our stream URLs

To configure one of these links with your media player you may need to consult its documentation.

However if you're using VLC media player on a compatible device setup is every simple.
You can get VLC Media Player for Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and more, from the VideoLan website

For the Windows/MacOS/Linux versions, first copy our stream link by right clicking over it and choosing "Copy Link Address". Then open VLC, and click on "Media" in the top bar, then "Open Network Stream". Then click on the textbox and paste in the stream link. Then click on "Play", and you should start to hear the current stream. VLC will save previously used URLs, so if you open the Network Stream dialog again and use the drop down on the right of the textbox, you can listen without needing the stream link again.

For the Android and iOS versions, first copy our stream link by pressing and holding on the link and choosing "Copy Link Address". Then open VLC, and go to the "More" tab at the bottom of the screen. Under the "Streams" bar tap the "New Stream" button, VLC should automatically paste the URL when you do this. If not press and hold over the textbox and chose "Paste". Then the paper airplane button will play the stream, VLC will also save this stream for future use, and can be accessed from the "More" tab.
